San Diego

This blog entry is quite delayed considering it has been over a month since our visit to SD, but hey, better late than never you know?

We went down for my best friend Katies birthday! Her sister made her a fabulous cake full of little memories and occurrences throughout Katie's life and added Katie, her husband and their son to the cake. It was amazing!

We spent the afternoon celebrating on the beach with all her friends!

In the few days before her party we hung and did some things in SD. Best of all we went on a brewery tour at Stone Brewery in Escondido. Now what makes these guys extra awesome, aside from stellar beer, is that they never advertise. All their business is derived from word of mouth or people seeing their trucks driving around town doing deliveries. True grass roots business efforts! The tour was fantastic and they let us do some tastings afterwards including the one I enjoyed the most, the Oaked Arrogant Bastard.

As soon as we got home I found a local place to snag Stone Ales and purchased a 6pack of my favorite brew to enjoy on the 4th of July. The story of the brew is on the bottom and it's a HILARIOUS one. Here's a scan of the 6 pack and the bottom with the story.

The day before Katie's BDay Nicole and I went to Disneyland for the day. We got there in time to grab a few Vinylmations for myself and Jeff (Same the Eagle for me and an Up for Jeff). Our first time standing in a crazy Vinylmation release line. It wasn't that bad actually but we had fun being Disney Nerds!

Then, since we were down there only a few weeks after it opened, we rode The Little Mermaid. I had cheated and watched a video on YouTube but Nicole hadn't cheated so it was a real surprise for her. We both thought it was alright but not good enough to be alone in DCA. It should be in Fantasyland and then it would be fine. To stand alone and carry an area of DCA it needs to be a bit more.

After a fun filled time in San Diego we headed home to Reno to settle back in and then take off again a few days later for San Jose. We felt so lucky to be there to share in the chaos and fun of Katie's birthday and to have another excuse to hang out with Bradley.
