Reno and Lake Tahoe.

I'm pretty vocal about my lack of enthusiasm for Reno.

Sometimes it takes a visit from out of towners to make me take an honest look at this place I call home.

We took the opportunity to head to two places we should go more - especially since they are both in our backyard.

First... Lake Tahoe.
It's about 30 or so minutes from us (to certain places... an hour or more to other parts of the lake) and is.... BEAUTIFUL!

I only care about Tahoe in the winter when it's covered in feet of beautiful, white, fluffy powder and i'm looking down on it under my snowboard. I forget that during the summer it can be just as breathtaking in it's own right.

We spent a few hours at Round Hill Pines Beach. For an $8 parking charge I was able to lay on the beach and look at the view for as long as my little heart desired.

This is a shot from Tahoe City... another place along the lake that we should visit more. Spectacular... even without the snowfall. =)

Lastly... Animal Ark.

This place takes in wild animals that were in unfit environments whether they be peoples homes or unhealthy work environments like movie sets. Once at Animal Ark they are allowed to relax and roam in safety and be fed only the most nutritious and appropriate foods (not doughnuts as one of the bears was fed during captivity in a private residence) and receive the medical attention and care they so desperately need.

It also serves as a place of education for students and the general population. It strives to educate people about wild animals and their needs and to be constant reminders to take care of animals and respect them.

This is Shere Kahn - an 18 year old Asian Tiger.

This is Rayna - a beautiful 11 year old Grey Wolf.

These beauties are Moyo and Jamar - 6 year old brothers.

Sometimes it takes a visitor to remind us how blessed we are to live in such an amazing and spectacular place.
